User Manual

Setup & everyday operation

How to get your Material & Decor System display powered on, and how to use it day to day. This manual doesn't cover adding new materials to the system - see the separate material setup guide for that.

01 About the system

Material & Decor System shows how a material - a stone surface, a wood finish, a wall tile - looks in a real space, the moment a physical sample is placed on the display. No touchscreen, no menus to hunt through: pick up a sample, set it down on the matching reader, and the screen updates.

The display cycles through different scenes, and each scene has up to four independent zones that respond to their own samples.

02 Initial setup

How to get the display powered on and ready - the first time, or any time it's been unplugged.

  1. Connect power. Plug in the USB power adapter provided with the unit.
  2. Connect the display. Connect the unit to your monitor or TV.
  3. Power on. Press the button on the power cable. It should light up green.
  4. Wait for it to load. The system starts up and loads the app automatically - no further action is needed.
Ready to use Once loading finishes, the display is ready for use right away.

Turning it off

Press the button on the power cable again to turn the system off.

03 Choosing & changing the scene

Each scene shows a different room or setting. Move to the next one by scanning the admin tag - a dedicated tag kept separately from material samples.

  1. Scan the admin tag on any reader.
  2. The display switches to the next scene in sequence, looping back to the first after the last.
Good to know Scanning the admin tag again within a few seconds of the last change is ignored, so a scene won't accidentally flick past the one you meant to land on.

04 Trying materials

Every scene has up to four zones. Placing a sample on that zone's reader applies it there - the other zones are unaffected, so a customer can combine several materials at once and see them all together in the same scene.

Zone 1 Zone 2 Zone 3 Zone 4
ZONE 1 ZONE 2 ZONE 3 ZONE 4

Each zone has its own reader. A sample placed there applies to that zone only - the layout, count, and names of zones vary by installation.

Note The zone names in this manual (Zone 1–4) are placeholders. Your installer sets up the actual number of zones and their labels to match what your display is set up to show.

If nothing is scanned for a while, the display switches to a screensaver until it's used again. Scanning any sample or the admin tag brings it straight back.

05 Troubleshooting

The power button won't turn green

  • Check the power adapter is fully plugged in at both ends.
  • Try a different power outlet.

The screen stays blank after powering on

  • Check the cable between the unit and the monitor or TV is fully connected at both ends.
  • Make sure the monitor or TV itself is powered on and set to the right input.

A sample doesn't seem to register

  • Make sure it's sitting flat and fully on the reader, not propped at an angle or overhanging the edge.
  • Give it a moment - lift it and place it again if nothing happens after a few seconds.
  • Try a different sample on the same reader to check if it's the sample or the reader.

The display is showing the screensaver and won't wake up

  • Scan any material sample or the admin tag - either will wake it.
